Logon to DXplain      Instructions

Use DXplain to
  • List signs, symptoms and lab values
  • Receive a list of differential diagnoses
  • Find information about a specific disease
  • Enter a differential diagnosis for evaluation
  • Retrieve relevant PubMed citations
  • Gather information for a presentation or report
DXplain
  • Is available via the World Wide Web
  • Is accessible from home or office 
  • Was created at Massachusetts General Hospital
  • Includes pediatric and adult diseases
  • Includes decent gynecology coverage, but mostly internal medicine related
  • Prefers terms like "hematocrit increased" to absolute lab values
Accessing DXplain
  • DXplain is available on the Web via a UMDNJ workstation or through a proxy server using another Internet service provider (the Cooper network, AOL, Comcast, etc.)
  • When you logon to DXplain, you will be asked to enter your e-mail address and status. 
  • At the second screen, select a DXplain option.
