• Risk of steroid psychosis: 4% = Y

• Risk of psychosis without treatment: 0%=X

• NNH=1/X-Y= 1/.04 = 25

  • Need to treat 25 patients with steroids to cause one steroid psychosis
  • Need to treat 8 patients before one improves
  • For every 3 patients that improve one will develop psychosis
