| AUDIOLOGIST | Our team audiologist administers regular tests to monitor hearing acuity. She also provides necessary diagnostic information about middle ear function to the otolaryngologist. |
| COORDINATOR | The team coordinator is available around-the-clock to meet with the parents of newborn babies, answer questions about the care of infants with clefts, discuss special problems parents might encounter, and describe short-range plans for surgical repair. She serves as a liaison between team members, patients and their families. |
| ORAL SURGEON | Dentist who deals surgically with abnormalities of the upper and lower jaws and teeth. The oral surgeon works with the plastic surgeon, and with orther members of the dental team, to correct abnormalities of the jaw and alveolus through surgery. |
| ORTHODONTIST | Dentist who repositions jaws and teeth using fixed or removable appliances. The orthodontist monitors the positions of the teeth and jaw segments. If necessary, he may realign teeth to create a functional and aesthetic bite. |
| OTOLARYNGOLOGIST | Physician specializing in care of the ears, nose and throat. |
| PEDIATRICIAN | Physician specializing in the generalized medical care of children. The pediatrician monitors the growth, development and general health of the child. |
| PEDODONTIST | Dentist specializing in the general dental treatment of children. The pedodontist is sometimes consulted to help evaluate early feeding problems, and to determine whether dental appliances can aid in feeding or ready the mouth for future surgical repair. The pedodontist continues to evaluate the child's dental needs until adulthood, providing routine dental needs until adulthood, providing routine dental care, attending to restorative needs, and monitoring the overall growth of the dental structures. |
| PERIODONTIST | Dentist specializing in the surgical and non-surgical care of the gums. |
| PROSTHODONTIST | Dentist specializing in the fabrication of fixed and removable oral appliances such as crowns, bridges, dentures and bite plates. The prosthodontist provides temporary and permanent artificial parts for missing, misshappen and deficient oral structures. |
| SOCIAL WORKER | The social worker assesses the coping abilities of the family very early in the cleft rehabilitation process. She is available throughout evaluation and treatment to provide emotional support, monitor school progress and identify and treat any potential problems associated with the cleft or its treatment. |
| SPEECH PATHOLOGIST | Our speech pathologist analyzes the childıs speech pattern, voice quality and language development, and provides diagnostic information to other team members. When necessary, speech therapy is administered to improve the childıs communication skills. |
