Friday, February 16, 2007, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., DCR

Present:  Alexander, Bowers, Burden, Cagande, DiGiovine, Doshi, Dunn, Graessle, Headly, Jaffe, Mehne, Murphy, Newmark, Nyce, Parra, Patel, Porter, Reboli for Parrillo, and Sharrar, and Viner.

1. 2007 Curriculum Subcommittee meeting dates were noted; meetings are held in the ERB DCR:

2.   The minutes of January 19, 2007, were approved.

3. Student Curriculum Committee Activities were discussed.  The Whitman Society topics for spring 2007 were discussed, including:  evidence-based medicine topics, the ovarian cancer patient group, art of observation at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the relationship between physicians and industry, medical economics, medicine and the media, and music in medicine.

4.   Ms. Sonal Patel and Dr. Anna Headly led discussions about Interdisciplinary Learning, and guided the committee through small group efforts to identify means to improve interdisciplinary education of Camden Campus students.  A report will be made to the March 16, 2007, meeting of the Camden Curriculum Subcommittee.

5.   Dr. Headly praised faculty, third-year student mentors, and especially departmental coordinators for their flexibility in accommodating changes in the M2 Physical Diagnosis and Clinical Decision Making course schedule from Piscataway.  The course is consistent with the community of learners concept on the Camden campus.

6.   Dr. Porter reported that the Continuity Care Course is working very effectively this year in achieving its goals.  Both patients and students are benefiting from the experience.

There being no other new business, the meeting adjourned.
