As an entirely student-run organization, UHI seeks to meet health needs where they exist in the community. To fulfill our mission, we’ve set forth the following goals:
- Provide quality healthcare to the underinsured through free clinics operated and maintained by medical students currently undergoing clinical clerkships.
- Increase the competence and understanding of the Camden residents about issues prevalent in their community that affect their health, well being, and overall survival.
- Provide hands on training that will equip them with knowledge of life-saving techniques so that they can help each other in need.
- Serve as role models and mentors for the Camden youth.
- Through volunteering and fundraising efforts, provide basic needs such as food, clothing, and other provisions to Camden’s most needy citizens.
- Use the above modalities—continuity healthcare, education/training, mentoring, volunteering, fundraising—to promote health care prevention
